An Etsy success story!

I recently met Celeste of Crickets Creations at the EtsyVeg team. She sells lovely hand knit scarves on Etsy. I was very interested to read on her blog that Better Homes & Gardens had bought one of her hand knit scarves for a photo shoot to be shown in their magazine. I thought it was such an encouraging story for other sellers. Hang in there - you never know who will find your product on the web and fall in love with it!

My first feature in an Etsy Treasury!

I've just been added to my first Etsy Treasury! And what a fun Treasury it is! If you buy any item in any of the shops featured in this Treasury, your shop will replace that one! And if your shop is still in the Treasury when it ends, you'll be carried over into the next one. Things are selling like hot cakes over there! A really great idea. I just bought some beautiful goldstone beads that will look great with my fall color china plate jewelry and in exchange my blue and white broken china ring is now being featured! A completely win-win situation!

For those of you not familiar with Etsy, it's a wonderful place to shop for handcrafted items. Treasuries are posted as a way for Etsy sellers to promote their products. It's not too easy to get into one so it's quite exciting when you're featured. If you haven't been to the Etsy website yet, you owe it to yourself to check it out. My Brand New Etsy Shop!!

Yes, I finally did it - I finally found the time to set up a shop on Etsy! Even though I have a website at www.marjoriescracked.com. I've always wanted to be a part of the Etsy team. Most of the other jewelry artists I've met through this blog, Beadingaholics Yahoo Group and Facebook have shops on Etsy. And now I can say I do too.

I plan on finding the time to participate in Etsy's forums and their charity work, especially the work they do on behalf of animals. I know I have a lot to learn about all that goes on there. I only have ten items in the shop at this point. If they do well, I'll be adding more.

Featured Artist of the Month

One of the nicest things about entering the world of jewelry design is meeting so many wonderful artists. Learning from them and being inspired by them has been invaluable to me. I would like to feature a different artist each month here on my blog in appreciation for all they've given me.

The first artist I've chosen to feature is Jamee Jones of Maui, Hawaii. Jamee is a wonderfully talented jewelry artist specializing in beach wedding jewelry. She's gaining quite a reputation for creating jewelry of exceptional quality and beauty. Here's one elegant example of her work.



Together with her sister, Kimberlee Aihara, Jamee is the owner of Jonara Blu Maui, with two online stores - one at Ruby Lane and one at Etsy.

In addition to her lovely beach wedding jewelry, Jamee is known for her "fresh and funky beaded jewelry with an island twist". Look at the glorious colors of the beads she uses in this one.



And of course, being in Maui, she creates jewelry that's inspired by the ocean, like this fabulous necklace.



Jamee is also a moderator of the Beadingaholics Yahoo Group where she gives advice and encouragement to other jewelry designers on a daily basis. I know I'm not the only one who benefits from her help and example.
